Birth Certificate Translation Services

A certified birth certificate translation renders your record complete and exact — every name, date, registration number, seal and marginal note — with a signed statement of accuracy, the EnLatin stamp, and a verifiable order code. It is what USCIS, consulates, passport offices and courts ask for when a foreign-language record must be read in English.

When you need birth certificate translation

You need a certified translation of a birth record when a government office, court, school or employer asks for it in English. Most often: USCIS petitions and adjustment of status, passport and citizenship applications, dual-nationality claims through descent, adoption dossiers, school enrolment, and marriage licences where one party was born abroad.

If the office asks for a "certified translation", a "translation with certificate of accuracy", or an "official translation", that is this service. Three names, one deliverable.

Where birth certificate translations go wrong

What we do not promise

We do not promise acceptance by every office. Requirements differ by country and by department, and some require a sworn translation, a notarization or an apostille in addition. We will tell you which applies to your destination before you order rather than after.

We do not amend, correct, or legalize the original. If your certificate contains an error — a misspelled name, a wrong date — we translate what it says and flag it to you. The correction is the issuing register’s to make, and a translation that quietly fixed it would not match the document you are submitting alongside it.

How pricing works

Certified translation is priced per page at the standard rate for the document type, confirmed at checkout before any charge. Most birth certificates are a single page. Volume discounts apply automatically from three pages onward, which is worth knowing if you are preparing a family’s records together.

The signed statement of accuracy, the stamp, and the verifiable order code are included as standard — certification is never an added charge. Where a sworn translation or an apostille is required by your destination, we will say so before you order.

Frequently asked questions

Is a certified translation of my birth certificate enough for USCIS?

Yes. USCIS requires a complete English translation of any foreign-language document, together with a signed statement from the translator attesting to its completeness and accuracy and to their competence to translate. Every EnLatin certified translation carries that statement, the stamp, and an order code the officer can verify with us directly. Notarization is not required by USCIS, and we will not sell you one you do not need.

My name is spelled differently on my birth certificate than on my passport. Is that a problem?

It is normal, and it is why we ask. Transliteration standards change over decades and differ between the registry that recorded your birth and the office that issued your passport. Send us the passport spelling: we render your name to match it and note the form as it appears on the certificate, so the receiving officer sees one person in two spellings rather than a discrepancy to investigate.

Do I need a notarized or sworn translation for my birth certificate?

Usually not. Most United States agencies, including USCIS, accept certified translation. Some European consulates and foreign registries require a sworn translation or an apostille on the original. Tell us the destination and we will tell you which applies — the difference between the three is explained here.

My certificate has handwritten notes in the margin. Do those get translated?

Yes, and they matter. A marginal annotation usually records something the register added later — a marriage, a legitimation, a paternity acknowledgement, a correction. It is translated and kept in its place on the page. If a note is illegible we say so rather than guessing; a marked uncertainty is honest, an invented reading is not.

How long does birth certificate translation take?

A single-page certificate is usually delivered within a few hours, up to just a day. Same-day and 24-hour options are available at checkout if you have a filing deadline.

Can you translate certificates for my whole family at once?

Yes, and it is usually better. Ordering together keeps the rendering of shared surnames, place names and the issuing register consistent across every document — which is exactly what an officer comparing a family’s papers is checking. Volume discounts apply automatically from three pages onward.
